The key factors in designing superior teak furniture are basic in nature. We start by using only mature, quality teak heartwood, which is kiln-dried to a moisture-content level that ensures each wood component remains stable and will not shrink or warp. Components are cut using jigs, and all mortise and tenon joints are machine-produced to ensure a properly fitting joint. Any curved components of our furniture (such as chair and bench slats) are not steamed and bent, but rather are cut from solid blocks of mature teakwood. The furniture is assembled using glued, crossed-dowelled mortise and tenon joints, ensuring structural integrity. The process is then elegantly finished using solid brass hardware. In contrast, the poor-quality, less-durable teak furniture found in many stores is predominately produced using hand tools, inferior wood and/or substandard design.
